This rugged and compact light is extremely versatile and trusted in any area with high levels of radiation, contamination and confined spaces that require powerful, concentrated illumination.
The compact BIRNS Curie II measures only Ø89mm and uses ballast-less 120V/2,000W Hg-free lamps that emit 59,000 lumens of 3200K light. The robust lighting system is rated to 100m and is suspended by its cable for general-purpose drop light use. As it’s smaller than a fuel bundle, it can fit up against a cavity wall without interfering with refueling, and just two to three of these diminutive, brilliant lights can illuminate an entire cavity. The BIRNS Curie II is designed to be both safe and highly effective—in fact, it can be relamped in under 60 seconds by hand, without tools, and is easily decontaminated.
The BIRNS Curie II is engineered for high performance from its brilliant lamp to its marine grade connector design. The rugged connector is fully integral to the light housing—both are made from a single block of 304 stainless steel—and the connector is indexed to avoid possible mismating or damage. It does not depend on the rubber-coated pin method of sealing seen in competing units; it has redundant captivated o-ring seals in stainless steel grooves to preclude any possibility of electrical leakage.
