BIRNS Awards 2016 Scholarship

OXNARD, CA—BIRNS, Inc., a manufacturer of high performance lights and connectors for the subsea and nuclear power markets, is proud to announce that Molly Irelan has been awarded its annual Debra K. Geist Memorial Scholarship. The Newbury Park High School student was honored at a ceremony at the company where she was given a scholarship award of $500 to be used for college in the fall.

The scholarship program was founded in memory of the late Debra Geist, BIRNS’ former Purchasing Agent, to recognize high school students in Ventura County with strong leadership potential and committed to the pursuit of excellence in business. Miss Irelan is an exceptional student, serves as Senior Class President and is a dedicated and highly decorated Girl Scout, as well as a successful local athlete. She plans to attend California State University Channel Islands to study business.

“Miss Irelan is a highly motivated, hard-working young woman, with a bright academic and professional life ahead of her,” says Eric Birns, President and CEO of BIRNS. “Her many achievements make her a perfect fit for the scholarship, and we are proud to have chosen her as this year’s recipient.”
